How do I know what size/style birdhouse to choose?

We currently offer two styles of birdhouses; box and lighthouse styles. All of the box styles offer ample room for most types of birds. The actual sizes are shown with each birdhouse. When ordering, specify your portal size so as to attract the type of birds you are looking for. The lighthouse, however, is limited to small birds and is only offered in the 1 1/8” portal. Please ask if you do not see the size you are looking for. (For good general information about birds and their care you can go to the Audubon Society.)

What kind of materials do you use?

We use only dry, hand selected yellow and red cedar for our birdhouses. All fasteners are made from brass, copper, stainless steel, nylon or other treated metals. The adhesives are industrial quality and the finest available. Our painted models are finished with a generous coat of General Finishes Milk Paint and the natural models are finished with three coats of gloss clear coat from Sansin.

Can you leave the birdhouse outside year round?

Absolutely! All of our birdhouses are constructed of hand selected yellow and red Cedar, which is the natural choice of wood as it is naturally pest and rot resistant. But, although this is the finest choice for exterior applications, it still is subject to seasonal changes and the forces within the wood itself. We strive to select those pieces that are less prone to bowing, cupping and twisting, but in the end it is a soft wood product prone to such movement. It is for this very reason we rely upon proper joinery and adhesives to keep things as solid as possible. But it is still likely that you will experience some wood movement, none of which will compromise the integrity of the birdhouse. Combined with quality construction, joinery, adhesives, rust resistant fasteners, durable paints and clear coatings, our birdhouses will last for years and years. Furthermore, all of our birdhouses have been tested over several years in a harsh “four seasons” environment.

What tools will I need for assembly?

Your quality birdhouse is completely assembled, so no tools are needed for it. However, depending on how you plan to mount your birdhouse you will need different tools. If you plan to mount it on a fence post, all you will need is the universal bracket and a Philips screwdriver. If you wish to mount it on a pipe post, you will also need a shovel to dig a hole. If mounting on our Adjustable Universal Pole no tools are needed.

What shipping services to you use?

The majority of our products are shipped via United Parcel Service or the U.S. Postal service. Tracking numbers are provided for all UPS and most USPS items. Currently, we only ship our products to the lower 48 states.

When will my order ship?

If your order is in stock, it will usually ship within 1 to 2 days. If we are out of stock and your order needs to be manufactured, it will usually ship in about 5 to 7 days. Non-stock items and custom orders can take longer. While we don't guarantee a specific ship date due to workload and material availability, we will give you our best estimate. Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number via email. But, feel free to call us for an update on your order.

What about refunds/returns?

Cancelled orders are subject to a 25% restocking fee on items that we have already shipped. There is no cancellation fee for items that have not shipped. Orders for non-stock and custom items are final and are not refundable. Buyers are responsible for all return shipping costs.

What if I am dissatisfied with my purchase?

If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, simply send it back to us in the original packaging within 30 days from original receipt. The cost of return shipping is your responsibility. Upon receipt of your returned order, a refund will be made for the original cost of the items (minus a $20 shipping/handling fee). Please include the reason you are dissatisfied to assist us in our customer service. For exchanges, please email or call us to discuss.
